About Us

    The Society of Petrophysics and Well Log Analysts - Southwest Chapter (SPWLA-SWCHINA Chapter) is an academic branch of Society of Petrophysics and Well Log Analyst (founded in 1959, headquartered in Houston, USA, referred to as SPWLA) in Southwest China. SPWLA Southwest Chapter is a non-profit academic organization jointly founded in May 2019 by teachers and students from universities such as University of Electronic Science and technology, Southwest Petroleum University, Chengdu University of technology, etc. Its headquarter is located in Chengdu, China. The members of the association include scientific researchers, students and industrial experts in Southwest China. The association has established its own Executive Board and Academic Steering Committee. The association aims to strengthen the application of new theories, methods and technologies in Rock Physics, Borehole Geophysics and Reservoir Engineering, and promote the green economic development and utilization of underground resources by reservoir rock physics, logging and other formation evaluation technologies. It is committed to the development of related disciplines such as reservoir petrophysics and formation evaluation, especially to promoting the development and application of advanced electronic information and artificial intelligence technologies in petrophysics and reservoir evaluation. It is an important platform for the exchange of scholars, technicians and students related to petrophysics, well logging analysis, reservoir evaluation in Southwest China.
